What Is Root Canal Therapy?

Root Canal Therapy (or RCT) is the therapy or treatment of the canal or canals within the tooth, to remove or prevent infection in order to stabelise or save a problem tooth.

Root canal therapy varies in cost depending on the individual tooth because it is based on the number of canals a tooth has, and this could vary from a single canal tooth (most front teeth are single canal) to 2 and three canals, varying up further to 4 and five canal teeth depending on your individual tooth anatomy.

k files

Root canal therapy is a very detailed process, using small files to access the deepest reaches of the canals in the tooth. These files can be hand files or machine driven, but the process is the same,

The tooth is of course very numb, so you don’t feel any pain.  The tooth is always isolated (with a rubber dam) to prevent additional contamination of the canals, and this can feel like a “mouthful” but when done right, it is always much less stressful than most people imagine it to be!

Give us a call or book an appointment and we can discuss your teeth with you in detail.
